Commercial perfumes are toxic and hazardous to your health. Take a look at the cardboard box your perfume bottle came in. Do you recognize any of those ingredients? Diethyl phthalate, acetone, sodium lauryl sulfate, a quick Google search links these common perfume ingredients to irritating the skin and eyes, disrupting the central nervous system and hormones and aggravating asthma. And don't get me started on the ingredient 'fragrance'. What even is that? Fragrance can virtually be anything! They're usually a cocktail of chemicals and most of them have not been tested/regulated for safety. The FDA allow the term fragrance to be used so that companies can keep their trade secrets hidden. Do you really want these harmful, unknown and unsafe ingredients to be absorbed by your largest organ - your skin? Why should you settle for synthetic fragrances when the earth has given us natural scents which won't hurt us and smell just as good?

The product: the perfume oil is contained within a glass bottle which has a roller ball applicator. It has a strong grapefruit scent when first applied, transitioning to rose geranium and clove after 15 minutes or so. Finally, the sweet scent mellows out and turns richer, with notes of frankincense and vanilla coming through. Whilst the oils melt into my skin, it evolves and creates a scent truly unique to myself. I apply the perfume to my pulse points: inside of wrists, sides of neck and behind both ears. I find that the scent lingers for up to 4-5 hours before needing to be reapplied. There are currently 2 other scents available: Satisfaction and Urbane.

The good: truly, this perfume was made with love and care. It's sweet, exotic and luxurious, what's not to like? I love the fact that there is no alcohol present in this perfume. I'm okay with organic alcohols however, if given the option, I would go for a perfume not containing alcohol. The primary purpose of alcohol is to cause the perfume oils to evaporate faster than they would by themselves which gives the impression that the perfume is stronger than it actually is. It also explains why the scent  fades dramatically within a few hours i.e. the perfume oils have evaporated along with the alcohol. The second reason for using alcohol as a filler is just basic marketing tactics as a bigger and fancier bottle seems better value for money than a smaller one of pure, natural perfume. Don't be fooled! Mighty things come in small packages and this perfume is a great example of that. I also enjoy the fact that the glass bottle is small and sturdy enough to carry around with me so that I can use this glorious gold liquid as a form of aromatherapy/pick-me-up throughout the day.

The bad: nothing bad to say about this beautifully crafted perfume. It would be great though if it came in a larger form so that I could keep it on my desk whilst the smaller one stays in my handbag.
